The basin plan for the Tar-Pamlico River Basin was finalized on July 23, 2001. The Draft Tar-Pamlico River Basin Plan (dated January 23, 2001) was presented at Final Scoping Meetings, which were held on January 30, 2001, at the Pitt County Agricultural Auditorium in the City of Greenville, and on January 31, 2001, at the Edgecombe County Auditorium Building in the City of Tarboro. All impacted counties and communities were invited to the Final Scoping Meetings and were provided a final opportunity for input. The Final Tar-Pamlico River Basin Plan contains specific information regarding comments that were received during the Final Scoping Meetings and how the Draft Basin Plan was revised and why. It also summarizes the scoping phase, outlines how the base maps and topography has been acquired in the basin, proposes engineering methods by which each flooding source reach will be studied, and describes the process and schedule for completing the map production. The scope of work presented in the Final Basin Plan will be completed by the State's Floodplain Mapping Contractor, Watershed Concepts.
