The Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM) will hold its 25th Annual Conference in Charlotte, North Carolina, June 3-8, 2001. The theme of the conference will be "New Trends in Floodplain Management: Plan, Prepare, Protect." The ASFPM is an organization of professionals involved in floodplain management, flood hazard mitigation, the National Flood Insurance Program, and flood preparedness, warning, and recovery.
The ASFPM annual conferences are recognized as the most important floodplain conference in the United States year after year. With more than 100 speakers and as many as 600 participants, they are the national conferences all community, state and federal floodplain managers plan to attend. Many of the most important consulting firms and product vendors associated with floodplain management attend.
The State has submitted several papers intended for presentation at the conference related to the new mapping program. The following presentations are currently scheduled:
